Mimi Bartels is a media and entertainment veteran with over 15 years of expertise in story development, production, film distribution, media, and marketing. She has played a pivotal role in overseeing the production and distribution of 70% of Nigeria’s top 10 box office releases since 2016, delivering Nigeria’s 2nd highest-grossing Nollywood film ever, “Battle on Bukka Street.”
In 2021, she earned the top spot as the highest-grossing producer in the Nigerian box office. Mimi’s notable productions include Netflix’s “The Black Book,” “Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards,” and “Adire,” currently topping Netflix’s charts across six countries. She supervised production for seven films during the pandemic, aided in the first West African Film Fund, and has over 40 co-productions. An alumna of Realness Institute/Netflix’s Development Executive Training and Apost Lab/Netflix Training, Mimi is a seasoned professional in the industry. She currently leads the development of local and international film and TV projects at Anakle Films.
